Jay Glover begon zijn carrière als klassiek musicus (trombone). Hij speelde bij o.a. The Liverpool Philharmonic en BBC Northern Orchestra. Ook toerde hij met het James Taylor Quartet.
Rond 1995 besloot hij aan slag te gaan als full-time componist, producer en mix engineer. Hij heeft een studio in Clapham:
